Real Madrid chose the ‘Clasico’ to secure their first road victory of the EuroLeague season, powered by a sensational performance from Trey Lyles.
The Canadian power forward scored 29 points in just 23 minutes, shooting 9/13 from the field and a perfect 7/7 from the free-throw line.
This marks the highest point total ever by a Real Madrid player in the historic EuroLeague clash against Barcelona.
Not bad for a debutant, although the former Kentucky star tries to downplay it:
“It was good to get the win,” Lyles added. “Winning the game was the most important thing. We played well as a team. I was able to make more shots than a couple of other guys, but the most important thing is that we won the game, so I was happy to be a part of it.”
Lyles is putting up impressive numbers in 20 minutes per game: 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, shooting 52% on twos, 42% from three, and 87% from the foul line (25/28 over the last four games).
For now, the former Lottery Pick is the player who has made the biggest impact among the many who moved from the NBA to EuroLeague this summer.
