The San Antonio Spurs suffered their first loss of the season, 130-118 to the Phoenix Suns, and also lost rookie Dylan Harper to a left calf injury. The No. 2 overall pick went down in the second quarter after contesting a Nick Richards dunk and exited on crutches wearing a walking boot.
“I believe it’s something with his calf, but we don’t know yet,” said coach Mitch Johnson. Harper scored 12 points in 11 minutes before leaving, continuing his strong rookie start (14.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists per game).
“We’ve seen great things from him,” said Victor Wembanyama. “Hopefully it’s nothing serious, but we’ll deal with it as a team.”
