Luka Doncic joins Wilt Chamberlain after third straight 40-point game

Luka Doncic joined Wilt Chamberlain in rare company with his third consecutive 40-point performance, scoring 44 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers past the Memphis Grizzlies 117-112. Returning from injury, Doncic also posted 12 rebounds and 6 assists, sparking a comeback from 15 points down in L.A.’s first NBA Cup group win.

Doncic has scored 136 points in his first three games, making him the only player besides Chamberlain and Michael Jordan (1986-87) to surpass 125 over that span. Averaging 45.3 points, he’s the first Laker since Kobe Bryant in 2007 to do so.

“Being in that company feels amazing,” Doncic said. “But winning feels even better.”
