Matt Barnes: Doc Rivers paying his son hurt the Clippers

Matt Barnes reflected on the end of the Lob City Clippers, pointing to Doc Rivers’ decision: “He brought his son over, and there was just some weird energy in the locker room.”

Barnes explained: “He paid his son a big contract. I’m not mad – if I was in his position, I’d do the same. But people didn’t get what it did: he was making more than me, Jamal Crawford, JJ Redick – guys playing real minutes in crunch time.”

According to Barnes, that move created tension: “When his son came, people looked at him funny. The energy shifted, guys weren’t really with that anymore.”
