The Finnish dream lives on!
At the Riga Arena, Coach Tuovi’s men punched their ticket to the semifinals—the first in the nation’s history—with a convincing 93–79 win over Georgia.
Finland built a solid lead with a near-perfect first half and managed to protect it until the final buzzer, against a tense Georgian side that lost both Bitadze and Shengelia to ejections in the closing minutes.
It was a true team performance from Finland: 26 assists and four players in double figures, highlighted by a remarkable 17-of-31 from beyond the arc (tying the record for most three-pointers made in the knockout stage of the tournament).
For Georgia, Baldwin’s 0-for-8 shooting night proved costly. Offensively, only four players contributed significantly—not enough to overcome this quarterfinal hurdle.
Finland: Little 3 & 9 assists, Salin 14+7, Nkamhoua 8, Jantunen 19+5, Valtonen 8, Maxhuni 15, Markkanen 17+6 with 4 blocks, Muurinen 7, Gustavson, Grandison 2
Georgia: Andronikashvili, Mamukelashvili 22, Burjanadze 2, Shermadini 2, Sanadze 19+5, Shengelia 18 & 5 assists, Bitadze 14+6, Baldwin 2, Ochkhikidze
