Scary moment for Jose Alvarado, who went down hard on his lower back while chasing a rebound in Puerto Rico’s overtime loss to Argentina in the AmeriCup quarterfinals. The Pelicans guard stayed on the ground for several minutes and was eventually stretchered off the court.

Later, Alvarado reassured fans via Instagram: “Appreciate the love, y’all. But your boy good. God got me.” The four-year NBA veteran just signed a two-year, $9 million extension and is expected to start the season with an expanded role due to Dejounte Murray’s Achilles injury.
