Uruguay pulled off a major upset, defeating Team USA 86-85 in the second game of the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 group stage. Both teams now hold a 1-1 record in Group A.
Uruguay controlled the first half, slipped behind by seven in the third quarter, but responded immediately and held on in a thrilling finish. Santiago Vescovi led with 24 points, while Joaquin Rodriguez added 23 points and eight rebounds.
Despite Langston Galloway’s game-high 25 points, Stephen Silas’ squad fell short. On Tuesday, USA faces Brazil, while Uruguay plays the Bahamas to decide quarterfinal placements.
