Dennis Schroder opens up in an interview with Stern: from his admiration for Dirk Nowitzki to the challenges of not feeling fully embraced in his own country.

Dennis Schroder, one of Germany’s stars, gave an interview to the German outlet Stern. Here are his statements.

Schroder said: “When I was 14, I was sitting in front of the TV watching Dirk Nowitzki carry the flag at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. I thought: how amazing, there’s no greater honor. It is a great honor, but for me it will never be like it was for Dirk. I will never receive the same love in this country, because I have dark skin”.

On EuroBasket: “We will win the title. If I wasn’t convinced of that, I wouldn’t play in the tournament and would rather spend my time in Braunschweig”.
