Interviewed by Mundo Deportivo, Xavi Pascual spoke about the rumors linking him to a return to Barcelona and about his future. In fact, Pascual has officially left Zenit St. Petersburg and would like to return to the EuroLeague.

These were his statements to Mundo Deportivo regarding the alleged contacts or progress toward a possible return to Catalonia: “A lot has been said, and much of it simply isn’t true. I have a great relationship with the president Joan Laporta, and if he ever thinks I can help, I know he’ll call me directly and it won’t be difficult. People talk a lot. But this situation never came up because Barca never really had the interest to bring me back. When Barca wants something, they go and get it.”

These, instead, are his words about his future, in which there is a clear intention to return to the EuroLeague: “Without a doubt, that’s the plan (to return to the EuroLeague). I’m not considering any other options right now. I’m waiting for something that truly excites me. Coaching is different from playing: a player can accept a deal they’re not fully convinced about, but I can’t. I need to believe in the project. What I know for sure is that I won’t begin the EuroLeague season as a head coach. And I’m willing to sit out the year if nothing exciting comes along. But if the right opportunity shows up, I’ll take it.”
