Theo Maledon officially leaves ASVEL. This was announced by the French club: ‘Thank you Théo, ASVEL will always be your home.
Last summer you chose to return to where it all started for you. To rediscover the essentials, to meet the ASVEL fans again, to return to enjoy yourself on the pitch.
Your gamble paid off and you left your mark on the season with your class and talent, putting stars in the eyes of young and old.
Your second period with us proved even more that this is also your home. The whole club wishes you all the best for the rest of your career, which we will follow closely”.
Merci Théo, l’ASVEL sera toujours ta maison.

Maledon’s response: ‘I joined this legendary club at the age of 16 with a head full of dreams. As a youngster, all I wanted was to practice my passion every day and progress at breakneck speed. During my first three seasons at the club, I experienced everything. First there was the hard learning curve of the professional world, the daily effort of training, moments of doubt, strong emotions, several titles…
Four years after my first experience here, this season had a special flavour. Returning to the place where it all started was a strong choice for me. I needed to focus, to reconnect with what had built me. Here I found everything I was missing. A loyal public, a close-knit team and, above all, the pleasure of playing.
Today I leave with the feeling that I have played my part in this season and with immense gratitude to all those who have supported me on a daily basis. Thanks to my teammates, the staff, the fans and, more generally, to all the people involved with the club.
