In an article outlining the Los Angeles Lakers’ offseason plans, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reports that LeBron James is expected to pick up his $52.6 million player option for the 2025–26 season, ensuring his return to the purple and gold.
At age 40, James continued to perform at an elite level, averaging 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists, earning a spot on the All-NBA Second Team.
The Lakers will look to add a center either via trade or through free agency – they’ll have access to the taxpayer mid-level exception, worth $5.7 million -.
