Sam Merrill, Cavaliers Agree to Four-Year, $38M Deal

Sam Merrill and the Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a four-year, $38 million contract, according to Shams Charania.

The Utah State product, selected 60th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, was a key contributor off the bench for the Cavs last season. He averaged 7.2 points and 1.5 assists in 19 minutes per game, while shooting 40% from the field, 37% from three, and an impressive 96% from the free-throw line.

The deal comes as Cleveland recently acquired Lonzo Ball from the Chicago Bulls. However, the Cavs now face the possibility of losing another key rotation player, as guard Ty Jerome appears increasingly likely to depart in free agency.
