Boston trims $180 million in taxes while Atlanta gets a frontcourt boost

The Boston Celtics traded Kristaps Porzingis and a second-rounder to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal that also involved the Brooklyn Nets, who received Terance Mann and the No. 22 pick.

This move follows Boston’s trade of Jrue Holiday to Portland and helps the franchise save $180 million in projected luxury tax, moving below the second apron. The Celtics also received Georges Niang and a future second-round pick in the deal.

For Atlanta, Porzingis joins a promising frontcourt with Zaccharie Risacher and Jalen Johnson, while Brooklyn now holds five first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft, bolstering its rebuilding strategy.
