Giannis Antetokounmpo’s frustration was evident after the Milwaukee Bucks’ 119-118 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers in Game 5, marking their third straight first-round playoff exit.
“It doesn’t feel good,” said Giannis, who posted a historic triple-double with 30 points, 20 rebounds, and 13 assists. “I have to look in the mirror and get better. We work hard and play the right way. Losing hurts, but we have to keep going.”
Pressed on whether he still sees his future in Milwaukee, Giannis declined: “I’m not going to go there. I just wish I was still playing.”
The Greek star also lamented not being able to win for Damian Lillard, who ruptured his Achilles in Game 4 after returning early from a blood clot. “We owed this game to Dame,” Giannis said.
Despite a strong start and 33 points from Gary Trent Jr., costly late turnovers let Indiana close the game on an 8-0 run. Bucks coach Doc Rivers praised Giannis’s all-around effort: “He was amazing—playmaking, scoring, doing it all.”
Giannis hinted this game may preview his evolution: “Being a real point forward might be my next phase. If I return next year, I want to help in that way.”
