LeBron James drops 40 in Lakers’ win, makes more history

Despite playing on the second night of a back-to-back, LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 110-102 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, scoring 40 points. He became the only player in NBA history with multiple 40-point games at age 40 or older.

Lakers coach JJ Redick praised James’ relentless mentality: “At 40, with every record and accolade, he still plays like this.” James, who passed Vince Carter in career games played, said he’s motivated to show his son Bronny the ropes of being a professional. Even with 11 turnovers, the Lakers’ effort secured the win. Austin Reaves, who added 32 points, summed it up: “He has nothing left to prove—unless you’re a Jordan fan.”
