ASVEL secured a significant EuroLeague victory by defeating Zalgiris in Kaunas 78-72. Theo Maledon and Melvin Ajinca led the way, both scoring 17 points, showcasing the talent of the new French generation.
Zalgiris, fueled by Sylvain Francisco’s 22 points, couldn’t complete the comeback, hindered by an underwhelming performance from Lonnie Walker, who went scoreless with 0/5 shooting. For ASVEL, Paris Lee contributed 12 points, while Nando De Colo added 11, hitting two crucial three-pointers in the final moments.
The French side led for most of the game, closing the first half up 43-36 and fending off the Lithuanians’ comeback attempts. With this result, Zalgiris dropped to a 10-7 record, while ASVEL improved to 8-9, marking significant progress compared to recent seasons.
