Amen Thompson leads Rockets to win over Spurs

The Rockets currently are 4th in the Western Conference with 37 wins in 59 games

Amen Thompson was again a key player in the Houston Rockets’ win over the San Antonio Spurs.

The second-year all-around scored 25 points with 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks, knocking down 12 of the 15 shots from the field attempted.

Thompson, who yesterday received the Western Conference’s Best Defensive Player award for January, is a true Jolly for Coach Udoka.

Thanks to his versatility and athleticism, the twin brother of Ausar can play four roles. Udoka used him to replace the injured Smith Jr-a power forward-, while now he is playing point guard to help make up for Fred Van Vleet’s absence.

Since playing with the starting five Thompson is producing averages of 16.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.8 blocks, shooting 55 percent from the field and 72 percent from the foul line.

The outside shot is still a work in progress, but that doesn’t stop him from being a difference maker for the Rockets.
