Mike Hall dell’UCC Assigeco Piacenza, dopo le notizie di ieri e la foto dei camion dell’esercito che trasportavano le salme fuori da Bergamo perché non in grado di gestire tutte le cremazioni, ha lanciato un appello su Twitter per fermare la stagione.
“Ieri sono morte 475 persone in Italia, 3.000 in totale. I militari portano i corpi dei morti dalle città che hanno raggiunto il limite. E stiamo ancora cercando un modo di giocare a pallacanestro? Le Olimpiadi saranno spostate di un anno, non c’è niente da preparare. Abbiate cuore, cancellate la stagione” ha scritto Hall. “Ora bisogna contenere il virus che sarà qui anche il prossimo mese. Quindi a meno che i giocatori non siano messi in quarantena prima e dopo ogni partita i rischi per la loro salute sono gli stessi fino a quando non ci sarà un vaccino. Nessuna partita vale così tanto stress per i giocatori e le rispettive famiglia”.
“Terrò fede al mio contratto e giocherò duramente perché amo la pallacanestro. Ma mi si spezzerà il cuore ad andare in varie città per andare a giocare un “children’s game” in un periodo del genere ed essere pagato” ha aggiunto Hall.
“La nostra ultima partita è stata il 16 febbraio e la palestra rimarrà chiusa per due settimane ancora. Ed ora non possiamo neanche più correre. Un mese senza cardio? Il miglior risultato finale sarà 25-19 con ambulanze ogni 15 minuti dato che le ginocchia dei giocatori esploderanno”.

The precautions now are just to stop the spike, the virus will still be here in a month. So unless players are quarantined before and after every game the threat to player health is still the same until there’s a vaccine. No game is worth that stress to players and their families

I will fulfill my contract and play hard because I love the game but it will break my heart to drive through a city/country suffering on my way to a gym to play a children’s game in a time like this….and get paid for it

Our last game was February 16th and gyms are closed at least another 2 weeks. And now you aren’t even allowed to run outside. A month no cardio then play? At best final scores will be 25-19…at worst you will need the ambulance every 15 mins as the players knees explode
