Zenit hold off Khimki comeback for surprising road win in Russian derby

Plaza’s side got their 4th road win of the season 83-81.

Khimki continues its struggles in Euroleague by losing Russian derby against Zenit for its 8th loss in Euroleague’s last 10 games. St. Petersburg side, instead, shows off resilience and willingness to fight to achieve its 5th win of the season, 4 of which came on the road.

Difference in the game came in the third quarter, when Zenit got away on a 25-11 run leading by 16 with 9 minutes remaining in the game: Khimki never got below a 3-point visitors lead.

Will Thomas led Zenit with 20 points, 8 rebounds, while Hollins added 15 and Ponitka 12 with 8 boards. Khimki had 30 points and 6 assists from Alexey Shved.
