Zalgiris Kaunas introduces another addition to the team. Danielius Lavrinovicius becomes the second newcomer of Lithuanian champions, as the 1+1 contract was signed.
The 24-year-old forward spent the last two years wearing the jersey of Nevezis-Optibet Kedainiai. He started his professional career in Germany with the Artland Dragons in Quakenbrück.
"Joining Zalgiris is a dream come true. There is no doubt who is number one in Lithuania and all players want to play here. This is a big step forward in my career, so I’m eager to get to work and introduce myself to the fans," the rookie told Zalgiris.lt.
The 206 cm tall player had one of the best seasons of his career in the Lithuanian championship so far.
In almost 23 minutes on the floor, Lavrinovicius averaged 10.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 10.4 points last season.
The versatile player, who represented Lithuanian youth national teams at various ages, also excelled in long-distance shooting last season – he made 35.5% of his three-pointers in Betsafe-LKL and 55% in the King Mindaugas Cup, which also allowed him to appear in the KMT sniper competition.
"This summer I will continue to focus on improving my individual skills, as I am well aware of the new challenges that await me here, as well as the huge responsibility I have towards the whole Zalgiris community," said Lavrinovicius.
It is planned that the multi-position player will take the place of Motiejus Krivas, who will continue his career in the NCAA league.
