Zalgiris forward Tyler Cavanaugh will be forced to miss the team’s Round 6 EuroLeague matchup against Maccabi, as his COVID-19 test upon arrival to Tel Aviv airport came back positive.

EuroLeague’s health and safety protocols do not require vaccinated game participants to undergo testing, while players and staff are required to isolate only when they are feeling CCOVID-19 symptoms.

Nevertheless, PCR tests before departure from Lithuania were performed due to Israeli government requirements. Tests taken on Sunday came back negative for all travelling team members.

After the test taken in the Ben Gurion airport upon arrival returned a positive test result, Cavanaugh had two rapid antigen tests performed, both of them coming back negative.

Despite having a negative PCR test before leaving Lithuania, and 2 negative antigen rapid tests performed after his positive test, Zalgiris was informed that per local regulations, Cavanaugh was not allowed to leave his hotel room until another PCR came back negative.
