Xavi Pascual: “Olimpia Milano penalized by injuries, Banchi at Virtus Bologna? What an impact”
Coach Xavi Pascual spoke about Olimpia Milano’s season and coach Luca Banchi’s impact on Virtus Bologna.
Coach Xavi Pascual was a guest on Area 52 where he talked about many topics, including of course Olimpia Milano and Virtus Bologna, the two Italian teams playing in the EuroLeague. Below are the words of the current Zenit St. Petersburg coach.
Xavi Pascual on Olimpia Milano’s season: “The big problem of Milan’s season was injuries. They lost Nikola Mirotic, probably the best player in Europe, for a long time. And then he never had Billy Baron, Shields also had problems. That doesn’t allow you to work and improve as a group. I give an example: when you have a lot of injuries and you have to win a game, you try to find a solution in every way to be successful. Maybe you succeed, but you don’t improve as a group. On the other hand, when you have the whole roster at your disposal, you can grow even if you lose games.
On Luca Banchi and Virtus Bologna: “Luca is doing an incredible job. The biggest impact of a coach in recent years in the EuroLeague, without taking anything away from the good things Sergio Scariolo did before him. Virtus is a team that has the stamp of its coach.
