The die is cast for Saliou Niang. According to Sportando, the player became NCAA-eligible about ten days ago and will therefore be able to play regularly for LSU.

LSU’s official season opener will be on October 24 against Florida State University (by Elisèe Assui). This definitively brings to a close the long period of uncertainty surrounding Niang’s professional past; he is leaving Virtus Bologna to become one of the most promising talents on the new roster coached by Will Wade. The NCAA has declared Niang eligible for two athletic seasons through the standard procedures of the “eligibility center.”

According to a report by Quotidiano Sportivo, the deal will guarantee Virtus a $500,000 buyout, while Niang will sign a multi-million-dollar contract with LSU that makes him the international player with the highest NIL compensation in the entire NCAA this season. Following the green light also received by Quinn Ellis, another star of Italian basketball has officially entered the new and extremely lucrative world of the NCAA.
