{"id":548538,"date":"2026-10-08T19:49:20","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T17:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/?p=548538"},"modified":"2026-10-08T19:49:22","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T17:49:22","slug":"doncic-adam-silver-is-very-excited-for-nba-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/en\/doncic-adam-silver-is-very-excited-for-nba-europe\/","title":{"rendered":"Doncic: &#8220;Adam Silver is very excited for NBA Europe&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic gave a long and interesting interview <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/inside-the-mind-and-roots-luka-doncic-new-face-of-lakers-digital-cover\">to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the many topics discussed, Doncic also talked about his involvement in the BC Roma project and <a href=\"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/en\/nba-and-fiba-a-partnership-with-euroleague-would-unlock-the-potential-lets-move-forward-with-the-creation-of-a-new-league\/\">NBA Europe.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s read:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Don\u010di\u0107 loves European basketball. At home the EuroLeague is on more than the NBA. Last year, Donnie Nelson, the former Mavs exec who engineered the draft-night trade for Don\u010di\u0107 in 2018, approached him with an offer:\u00a0How would you feel about investing in an Italian basketball team?\u00a0\u201cI said yes immediately,\u201d says Don\u010di\u0107. The Nelson-led group purchased Vanoli Cremona, moved it to Rome and rebranded it BC Roma. Don\u010di\u0107 has had several conversations with NBA commissioner Adam Silver about getting the team into the planned NBA Europe. \u201cHe\u2019s very excited for it,\u201d says Don\u010di\u0107. \u201cI can\u2019t tell you everything. But he\u2019s excited.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On the outlook for the new-look Lakers, who have changed 10 players from last season:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Even Pelinka admits the roster \u201cis not 100% a finished product.\u201d It\u2019s perhaps why Don\u010di\u0107 is cautiously optimistic. \u201cI think we\u2019re very deep, which is very important, especially going to the playoffs,\u201d says Don\u010di\u0107. \u201cAnd we have guys that are not afraid. Some of the new guys, I\u2019ve played against.
