BC Roma SPQR, the project led by Luka Dončić, has submitted a binding offer for one of the eight new EuroLeague franchises set to be awarded. The bid takes the total number of candidates to 14 for eight available spots.

According to Eurohoops, BC Roma’s offer was also one of the reasons why no new franchises were announced after the Como meeting. EuroLeague owners confirmed plans to expand the competition to 24 teams from the 2027-28 season, while delaying final decisions as the bids undergo further review.

Rome now has two separate projects in the race, BC Roma SPQR and Roma Maxima. The other candidates include Crvena Zvezda, Dubai, Hapoel Tel Aviv, London Lions, Napoli Basket, PAOK, Paris Basketball, Partizan, Valencia, Virtus Bologna, Hapoel Jerusalem and Aris. The eight new franchises would join the 13 existing ECA shareholders, with the Board expected to present a final recommendation in the coming weeks.

BC Roma SPQR has submitted a binding bid for one of eight new EuroLeague franchises, bringing the total number of candidates to 14

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[199,399
["post-548167","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-euroleague","category-nba
https://sportando.basketball/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/10/833653745_18104274581131961_6400951406603904387_n.jpg
["GET
