It refers to one of the most eccentric and charismatic figures in European basketball: <strong>Dimitris Giannakopoulos<\/strong>, the owner of Panathinaikos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giannakopoulos spoke to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozzartsport.com\/kosarka\/vesti\/ekskluzivno-dimitris-janakopulos-hteo-sam-da-ulozim-u-partizan-kumara-zavrsava-jokica\/554156\">Mozzart Sport<\/a><\/em> on the court at OAKA ahead of the friendly tournament featuring Panathinaikos, Partizan Mozzart Bet, Bourg and PAOK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When he heard that the Serbian outlet wanted to interview him, Giannakopoulos simply smiled and said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor my brothers from Serbia, sure\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cI love Serbia\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conversation quickly took a more informal tone when the journalists asked him about his nickname among Serbian fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat does Kumara mean?\u201d Giannakopoulos asked, before breaking into laughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the meaning was explained to him, his response was simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s good!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked whether he was aware of how closely people in Serbia follow him, Giannakopoulos explained where his connection with the country began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen I was studying in London, my roommate was Serbian. Since then, I fell in love with Serbia and made many, many friends. That was long before basketball and long before coach \u017deljko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI love Serbia, so I think the feeling is mutual. Yes, I really believe it is. To be completely honest, in Serbia I am a Partizan fan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cI knew \u017deljko would return\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the main topics was <strong>\u017deljko Obradovi\u0107\u2019s return to Panathinaikos<\/strong> and the enormous expectations surrounding his new tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI knew deep down that one day it would happen, that he would return here. It is destiny. I am very happy that it happened this year. I hope we have successful results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut as I said at the press conference, for me, the season itself is already a success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giannakopoulos was also cautious when discussing the pressure on Obradovi\u0107 and the expectations surrounding Panathinaikos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHistory has shown that it\u2019s not just about how you build the team. There are many things that play a role in winning the title at the end of the season \u2014 good health and sometimes luck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYes, having coach \u017deljko always gives you a competitive advantage. Having a good team gives you a competitive advantage. Now, I wouldn\u2019t want to make predictions. I didn\u2019t actually follow all the moves that happened this summer. So all I can do is wish them the best. But how could I make a prediction?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cStojan Vrankovi\u0107, forever in my heart\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked to choose one of the many Serbian players who have left a lasting mark on Panathinaikos, Giannakopoulos initially broadened the criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDoes it have to be Serbian? Can I choose someone from the former Yugoslavia?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He then immediately named <strong>Stojan Vrankovi\u0107<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStojan Vrankovi\u0107! Forever, forever and forever in my heart! Yes!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When names such as <strong>Nikola Pekovi\u0107, Dejan Toma\u0161evi\u0107 and Du\u0161an Kecman<\/strong> were mentioned, Giannakopoulos singled out Toma\u0161evi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cToma\u0161evi\u0107! And I respect people, I respect players who use their mind more than their physical abilities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cI would love to see Jokic in a Panathinaikos jersey\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giannakopoulos once again discussed his desire to bring <strong>Nikola Jokic<\/strong> to Panathinaikos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs far as I\u2019m concerned, I stopped watching the NBA the day Michael Jordan stopped dribbling the ball. Seriously. I started watching the NBA again a little when Jokic went there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI believe he is among the 10 greatest players of all time. I would love to see him in a Panathinaikos jersey and I will do everything in my power to try to make it happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe politics surrounding it are difficult, because I don\u2019t think it is a matter for the clubs. And that is a completely different matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked what initially prompted him to consider entering Partizan, Giannakopoulos pointed to the club\u2019s fan base and atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was a proposal they made. I told you, I love Partizan.
