I loved the Princeton offense because of Jason Kidd. But Jason Kidd the player and Jason Kidd the coach and person are two completely different stories. I didn\u2019t have a good experience with him, nor do I have a particularly high opinion of him off the court or as a head coach. And it\u2019s fine for people to know that. That\u2019s not just my opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Igor Koko\u0161kov was not holding back when talking about Jason Kidd:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t have a good experience with him, nor do I have high opinion of him off the court or as a head coach.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After that first year in Dallas, once the season wrapped up. I got a call from Steve Nash, inviting me to join Brooklyn. According to the Serbian coach, his close relationship with Doncic became a significant source of tension with Kidd.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"4771\" data-end=\"5061\">\n<p data-start=\"4773\" data-end=\"5061\">\u201cAfter working with Jason Kidd for a year, I sat down with him and said, \u2018Look, I have a history with Luka Doncic and I know him well, we\u2019ve worked together before, and that can certainly help the team, but I am not here working for Luka Doncic, I am working for you, this is your team.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"5063\" data-end=\"5144\">According to Kokoskov, however, Kidd was never able to fully move past the issue.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"5146\" data-end=\"5283\">\n<p data-start=\"5148\" data-end=\"5283\">\u201cHe could never really get over it. It was something in his head, part of his personal issues, which I didn\u2019t want to get involved in.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"kyd3oc\" data-start=\"5285\" data-end=\"5365\">\u201cI was working for the worst guy in the NBA, then I got a call from the best\u201d<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"5367\" data-end=\"5481\">After the 2021-22 season ended, Kokoskov received a call from Steve Nash, who was then coaching the Brooklyn Nets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5483\" data-end=\"5535\">The Serbian offered a particularly blunt comparison:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"5537\" data-end=\"5779\">\n<p data-start=\"5539\" data-end=\"5779\">\u201cAfter that first year in Dallas, once the season wrapped up, I got a call from Steve Nash, inviting me to join Brooklyn. I remember thinking, \u2018I was working for the worst guy in the NBA and now I have a call from the best guy in the NBA.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"5eruhk\" data-start=\"5781\" data-end=\"5831\">Kokoskov has nothing but praise for Luka Doncic<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"5833\" data-end=\"6003\">While his assessment of Kidd was extremely harsh, Kokoskov had nothing but praise for <strong data-start=\"5919\" data-end=\"5934\">Luka Doncic<\/strong>, with whom he has shared a strong basketball relationship for years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6005\" data-end=\"6170\">Kokoskov was the head coach of the <strong data-start=\"6040\" data-end=\"6067\">Slovenian national team<\/strong> when an 18-year-old Doncic burst onto the international scene and helped Slovenia win EuroBasket 2017.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6172\" data-end=\"6229\">Speaking about Doncic\u2019s talent, Kokoskov was unequivocal:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"6231\" data-end=\"6477\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\n<p data-start=\"6233\" data-end=\"6477\" data-is-last-node=\"\">\u201cIt only takes two sessions, two practices with a guy like that, to realize what kind of generational talent you\u2019re working with. His talent was so obvious, and he keeps growing with every passing year.
