Bayern Basketball have reached the final of the preseason tournament in Sardinia: Anton Gavel\u2019s team defeated ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, coached by Tony Parker, 81-72 (42-38) on Saturday evening, despite a 0-18 run in the third quarter, in their opening game of the 16th edition of the \u201cCity of Cagliari Tournament\u201d.<\/p>\n
Sunday against Hapoel Tel Aviv<\/strong><\/p>\n On Sunday (8:30 p.m.), Bayern will face Hapoel Tel Aviv in another EuroLeague matchup with the tournament\u2019s biggest prize at stake. It will be FCBB\u2019s final test before their BBL opener against Bamberg next Sunday (September 20, 6 p.m. at BMW Park). Three-pointers from Lucic, Beauchamp and Norris then immediately turned the game around, putting Bayern ahead 37-32 in the 16th minute. Despite committing ten turnovers, the Munich side had fought their way back into the game by halftime.<\/p>\n After the restart, however, further turnovers were largely responsible for ASVEL turning a 45-38 deficit into a 56-45 lead \u2014 an 18-0 run that made Gavel\u2019s second quick timeout of the game necessary in the 25th minute. Up to that point, ASVEL\u2019s defense had been working with significantly greater physicality.<\/p>\n Some curious calls further motivated the Munich side, while Lucic and Jessup led the comeback.
