A new video clarifies\u2014or at least attempts to clarify\u2014what happened during the final play of the Italy-U.S. game. With the Azzurre trailing by three and in possession of the ball for a potential tie, was Cecilia Zandalasini hit in the eye by Jackie Young without the referees calling a foul?<\/p>\n

The live footage hadn\u2019t clearly shown the incident, but the new angle released by Sky Sport highlights the finger to the eye that Zandalasini received. The U.S. player\u2019s gesture appears to have been unintentional.<\/p>\n

In the United States, some commentators had speculated that the Italian player was faking it. The footage, however, confirms that her reaction to the blow was genuine, even though it did not change the outcome of the game, which Team USA won 55\u201352.<\/p>\n
