The conclusion of the fourth window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers<\/strong> brought several changes to the Top 10 of the FIBA World Ranking Men<\/strong>, presented by Nike.<\/p>\n

The USA<\/strong> and Germany<\/strong> won both of their games and remain in first and second place respectively. France<\/strong> moved onto the podium, edging past Serbia by a very narrow margin.<\/p>\n

Both European teams recorded two wins last week, but France moved ahead after defeating slightly stronger opposition.<\/p>\n

Australia closes in on Spain<\/h2>\n

Australia<\/strong>, which remains undefeated in the Asian Qualifiers, came close to reclaiming sixth place from Spain<\/strong>, which moved into that position following the third window in July.<\/p>\n

T\u00fcrkiye makes the biggest move in the Top 10<\/h2>\n

T\u00fcrkiye<\/strong> is the biggest climber in the Top 10. The first team to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, T\u00fcrkiye climbed two spots to ninth<\/strong>, moving within touching distance of Argentina<\/strong>, which sits eighth.<\/p>\n

Finland<\/strong> was the other team to move up in the Top 20, thanks to a convincing road win against Estonia and Puerto Rico’s two defeats in the Americas Qualifiers.<\/p>\n

Mexico climbs to 26th<\/h2>\n

Mexico<\/strong> is the highest-ranked team to move up in the Americas. Two wins against Colombia and, most notably, Brazil lifted Mexico two places to 26th<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The victory over Brazil was particularly significant, as the South American team was ranked in the Top 10 at the time.<\/p>\n

Angola makes a strong move in Africa<\/h2>\n

In the African Qualifiers, Angola<\/strong> enjoyed a strong window, picking up wins against C\u00f4te d’Ivoire<\/strong> and the Democratic Republic of the Congo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Angola made the biggest jump among the Top 80 teams. African teams played three games during this window, giving them more opportunities to earn ranking points.<\/p>\n

Kuwait, Malaysia and Hong Kong climb eight spots<\/h2>\n

The biggest overall climbers came from the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Kuwait, Malaysia and Hong Kong, China<\/strong> all gained eight places<\/strong>. The event gave lower-ranked teams an opportunity to earn significant ranking points compared with their previous totals.<\/p>\n

Five new teams also joined the ranking with this update: the Federated States of Micronesia and Palau<\/strong>, following the FIBA Micronesian Cup 2026, and Kyrgyzstan, Maldives and Nepal<\/strong>, following the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers.<\/p>\n

The FIBA World Ranking Men now features 159 teams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

FIBA introduces a second Margin of Victory tier<\/h2>\n

The latest update also introduces a second tier for the Margin of Victory Factor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Teams will continue to receive a bonus for winning by 15 points or more.
