Pedro Martínez’s team, in his first game in charge of our team, fought for the victory until the end, but the greater accuracy of the Galician side swung the game in their favor. Okeke (18 points and 21 in evaluation), Procida (16 and 24), Maledon (15 and 20) and Tavares (17 and 24), who was returning from injury, were the standout Madrid players. Olivier Sarr made his debut, as did academy players Rhys and Mera; while Ndiaye once again saw minutes following his return to the club.

The game began with both teams closely matched and trading baskets, which brought the score to 17-17. However, Río Breogán gradually took the initiative to close the first quarter with a slight advantage (26-22). The second quarter began with a Madrid three-pointer from Okeke. Nevertheless, it was the Galician side that continued to lead and managed to go 10 points ahead at 48-38. Abalde and Procida then appeared (with a three-pointer and a dunk in succession) to reduce the deficit (48-46). A 2+1 from Francis Alonso left the game at 51-46 at halftime.

The first minutes after the restart belonged to Río Breogán, who once again built a 10-point lead. Our team looked to get closer through baskets from Abalde and Llull, but Luis Casimiro’s team showed greater accuracy from the outside. Little by little, Madrid found the rhythm they had been missing to turn the score around. Several plays from Tavares at both ends of the court and three-pointers from Okeke and Mera put the score at 78-79.

With everything still to be decided, the final quarter began with another exchange of blows. The Galicians remained inspired from beyond the three-point line, but Ndiaye and Procida responded with two three-pointers for our team (89-87; min. 33). Río Breogán did not slow down and once again built an almost decisive lead (96-87). But Madrid did not give up, and an Okeke three-pointer with two minutes remaining kept the game open (105-102). In the end, the Galician side secured the victory (110-102), and Madrid will continue their preseason games next Saturday against Baskonia.

STATS

110-Río Breogán: Tevin Brown (6), Francis Alonso (20), Andric (11), Rasir Bolton (13), Víctor Arteaga (19) – starting five – Peris (19), Tamba (4), Aranitovic (12), Quintela (2), Néstor Viño (0) and Vicedo (4).

102-Real Madrid: Okeke (18), Procida (16), Mera (5), Tavares (17), Llull (5) – starting five – Rhys (0), Abalde (10), Maledon (15), Sarr (6) and Ndiaye (10).

Pedro Martínez’s team could not claim the victory in the first preseason friendly, which was played in Pontevedra.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[305,199
[15727

post-512442","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-acb","category-euroleague","typology-press-release-en
["GET
