Ranking the 16 head coaches in the LBA means comparing very different profiles. There are coaches with decades of experience, emerging talents, specialists in avoiding relegation and coaches accustomed to competing for trophies.<\/p>\n

To build our Power Ranking, we considered Serie A achievements, individual awards, performance over the last five seasons, consistency of results and the level of the teams coached<\/strong>. We also looked at each coach\u2019s ability to exceed expectations, manage difficult situations and maximize the talent available to them.<\/p>\n

Here is the final ranking.<\/p>\n

16. Alessandro Rossi \u2013 Aquila Trento<\/h2>\n

Rossi achieved important results with Italy\u2019s youth national teams, but his first LBA experience ended with his dismissal at Scafati, followed by another dismissal at Treviso. Trento represents a major opportunity to prove that he can compete at the highest level of Italian basketball.<\/p>\n

15. Alessandro Ramagli \u2013 Scaligera Verona<\/h2>\n

A veteran of Italian basketball and a true Serie A2 specialist. The relegation suffered during his most recent experience with Verona, together with several difficult seasons, puts him lower in the ranking compared with the other coaches.<\/p>\n

14. Francesco Taccetti \u2013 Pallacanestro Trieste<\/h2>\n

He made his LBA debut as an interim coach and guided Trieste to the playoffs. His impact was positive, but one season is not enough to rank him higher just yet. Now, he will have to prove himself from the beginning of the season.<\/p>\n

13. Marcelo Nicola \u2013 Treviso Basket<\/h2>\n

He was called in twice during the season and secured two saves that initially appeared extremely difficult, if not impossible. Nicola has proven his ability to handle emergencies. Now, he will have to show that he can also build a project starting from the summer preparation.<\/p>\n

12. Adriano Vertemati \u2013 Apu Udine<\/h2>\n

His first experience with Varese ended with a dismissal, but the survival achieved with Udine has restored his standing. His previous experience as an assistant coach at Bayern Munich in the EuroLeague adds another important element to a profile that is still developing.<\/p>\n

11. Ioannis Kastritis \u2013 Pallacanestro Varese<\/h2>\n

He achieved the goal of avoiding relegation in both seasons with Varese. His work has been solid, even in difficult circumstances, but the club\u2019s increased ambitions now require another step forward from the Greek coach.<\/p>\n

10. Matteo Cotelli \u2013 Maxima Roma<\/h2>\n

In his first season as a head coach, Cotelli took over Brescia from Peppe Poeta and guided the team all the way to the Scudetto semifinals. His potential is clear, but the experience in Rome will be his first real test away from the environment in which he developed.<\/p>\n

9. Frank Vitucci \u2013 Pallacanestro Cant\u00f9<\/h2>\n

The 2006 Supercoppa title and two Coach of the Year awards underline a highly successful career. He reached two Coppa Italia finals with Brindisi and a Scudetto semifinal with Varese, while consistently proving his ability to avoid disappointing seasons.<\/p>\n

8. Alessandro Magro \u2013 BC Roma SPQR<\/h2>\n

Magro established Brescia as a consistent playoff team and delivered the first Coppa Italia in the club\u2019s history, while also winning the Coach of the Year award in 2022. His dismissal at Napoli, however, interrupted what had been a steady rise.<\/p>\n

7. Piero Bucchi \u2013 Scafati Basket<\/h2>\n

Two Coppa Italia titles, one Coach of the Year award and decades spent on Serie A benches. In recent seasons, he reached two playoff semifinals with Sassari. Experience and reliability continue to make him one of the league\u2019s reference points.<\/p>\n

6. Alex Mumbr\u00fa \u2013 Virtus Bologna<\/h2>\n

Winning the 2025 European title with Germany represents the highest point of his coaching career. He did a good job in Bilbao, while his disappointing experience in Valencia leaves some questions regarding his management of a top-level club.<\/p>\n

5. Mario Fioretti \u2013 Derthona Basket<\/h2>\n

After a long career as an assistant coach at Olimpia Milano, where he won virtually everything, Fioretti immediately impressed in his first experience as a head coach. A Coppa Italia final and playoff qualification in his first attempt represent an impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n

4. Neven Spahija \u2013 Reyer Venezia<\/h2>\n

His international experience has never been in question, but reaching the Scudetto Final with Venezia further strengthened his position at a time when his departure seemed almost certain. Eliminating Virtus Bologna represents the most prestigious result of his recent LBA career, following a series of games decided on the finest margins.<\/p>\n

3. Dimitris Priftis \u2013 Pallacanestro Reggiana<\/h2>\n

Priftis has guided Pallacanestro Reggiana to the playoffs in every season and was named Coach of the Year last season. His ability to give the team identity, organization and consistency makes him one of the most influential coaches in the league.<\/p>\n

2. Peppe Poeta \u2013 Olimpia Milano<\/h2>\n

Two seasons as a head coach, two Scudetto Finals, one championship and one Coppa Italia. No other coach has achieved as much in such a short period. Poeta represents the new face of the Italian coaching school, and his rise appears to be only beginning.<\/p>\n

1. Jasmin Repe\u0161a \u2013 Napoli Basket<\/h2>\n

Two Scudetti, two Coppa Italia titles and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies give Repe\u0161a the richest r\u00e9sum\u00e9 among the coaches currently in the LBA. He has won and coached at a high level across Europe, most recently leading Trapani to the playoffs and helping Napoli avoid relegation.<\/p>\n
