The Cleveland Cavaliers<\/strong> are still actively exploring a trade involving Max Strus<\/strong>, according to Marc Stein.<\/p>\n

The Cavaliers’ priority is to move the final year of Strus’ contract, worth $16.7 million<\/strong>, in order to create additional financial flexibility.<\/p>\n

Cleveland wants room for Watson or Kuminga<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Clearing Strus’ contract would give the Cavaliers more room to pursue two free-agent forwards: Peyton Watson<\/strong>, who is a restricted free agent, and Jonathan Kuminga<\/strong>, who is an unrestricted free agent.<\/p>\n

The move would be the latest step in Cleveland’s attempt to reshape its roster and improve its financial flexibility.<\/p>\n

Dennis Schr\u00f6der already traded to Charlotte<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

The Cavaliers have already made one significant move in that direction, trading Dennis Schr\u00f6der to the Charlotte Hornets for Tre Mann<\/strong> on Friday.<\/p>\n

However, Cleveland is apparently not finished and continues to explore options involving Strus.<\/p>\n

James Harden expected to re-sign<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Sources also told Stein that the Cavaliers are expected to re-sign James Harden to a multi-year contract extension “soon-ish.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

With Harden’s future apparently set to remain in Cleveland, the Cavaliers are now working on the financial moves necessary to potentially add another significant piece to the roster.<\/p>\n
