Tyrese Maxey made his pitch to LeBron James. The Sixers guard revealed that he contacted the Lakers superstar multiple times during free agency, trying to see whether there was a chance of bringing him to Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don’t blow up no man’s phone. Now, did I call? For sure,\u201d Maxey told the Numbers on the Board podcast. \u201cI mean, I didn’t know at first if it was possible. I don’t know if he was a free agent two years ago or last year, and you know we work out in the morning. So I texted Rich Paul, \u2018Man, give me LeBron’s number, I’m about to mess with him real quick.\u2019 Just on some funny stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maxey then recalled his first message to James: \u201cI hit him like, \u2018Yo, you’re always welcome to come to Philly\u2019 before he re-signed with the Lakers. We always knew he was going back to the Lakers. I’m just messing with him.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the most recent free agency period, however, Maxey’s pitch became more serious. \u201cAnd then this time, Paul was like, \u2018Look, I don’t know what he’s going to do. He doesn’t know what he’s going to do, so holler at him.\u2019 So I hit him, I’m like, \u2018Yo, pull up, I think we got a good chance. I feel like you can help us. You’re arguably, if not the greatest of all-time, so it’s like why wouldn’t we want you on our team?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Maxey ultimately revealed that he spoke with James several times: \u201cJust gave him the rundown on that. And I probably talked to him at least three times, three or four times.\u201d<\/p>\n
