In his first six NBA games with Brooklyn, Smith averaged 6.2 points, 2.7 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 19.5 minutes, while shooting 50% from the field and from three-point range.

His new deal also reflects the work being done within Brooklyn’s G League pipeline. The Long Island Nets, coached by Mfon Udofia, have now produced three NBA call-ups this season: Malachi Smith and Grant Nelson to Brooklyn, plus Jeenathan “Nate” Williams to the Golden State Warriors on a two-way deal.

For Smith, this is another valuable chance to earn a longer look from the franchise before the season ends. After this second 10-day contract, Brooklyn would need to sign him for the rest of the season in order to keep him beyond that point.

Brooklyn Nets G League head coach Mfon Udofia has gotten three NBA call-ups from the Long Island Nets this season, including Malachi Smith and Grant Nelson with the Brooklyn Nets and Jeenathan “Nate” Williams with the Golden State Warriors on a two-way contract. https://t.co/bCK1akKYWw

— Michael Scotto (@MikeAScotto) March 25, 2026

The franchise is rewarding the guard’s solid early impact after his first six NBA appearances with the team

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[399

175
183

post-489728","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nba","rumors-nba-rumors","typology-rumors
["GET
