Per ESPN sources, LeBron James<\/strong> is expected to finish the season with the Los Angeles Lakers<\/strong> despite the looming trade deadline and ongoing speculation about his long-term future. His longtime agent and friend Rich Paul (Klutch Sports)<\/strong> said in December that James wouldn\u2019t seek a trade: \u201cNo. Where is he going to go?\u201d<\/p>\n

James, 41<\/strong>, also has a no-trade clause<\/strong>, meaning any potential deal would require his approval. Since Paul\u2019s comments, the Lakers have slipped from No. 2<\/strong> to No. 6<\/strong> in the West, and an ESPN report (Jan. 21) detailed tension with acting governor Jeanie Buss<\/strong>, but James responded days later: \u201cI\u2019m good\u2026 I\u2019m good.\u201d<\/p>\n

What happens after this season remains unclear. James said he doesn\u2019t know if he\u2019ll retire this summer and noted that Wednesday\u2019s game in Cleveland \u201cvery well could be\u201d his last in Northeast Ohio. Still, ESPN\u2019s reporting is firm: James is not expected to join a new team before this season ends<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
