NBA forward Simone Fontecchio stole the show with an incredible 39-point performance, setting the tone early and never letting Bosnia fully recover.

After a slow start, Italy answered with a 10-2 run powered by Fontecchio, who had 12 points in the first quarter alone, closing it 22-21. At halftime, despite Bosnia’s dominance on the boards (21-13, with Nurkic scoring 9 and grabbing 5 rebounds), Fontecchio was already at 21, keeping Italy up 44-40.

The second half opened with Pozzecco’s ejection, which sparked a Bosnian comeback to 54-54. But Italy responded with Melli, Spissu and Fontecchio, pushing the lead to 72-61 by the end of the third. In the final quarter, Italy closed the deal, riding Fontecchio’s hot hand to a decisive 96-79 victory that strengthens their position in Group C.

A spectacular night for Simone Fontecchio lifts Italy, while coach Pozzecco is ejected early in the second half

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[46,98,131
["post-457721","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bosnia","category-eurobasket","category-italbasket
["GET
