Danilo Gallinari was a guest on the A Cresta Alta podcast and, among various topics, he also spoke about his dream of returning to Olimpia Milano and about the transfer market.

On a potential return to Olimpia Milano, Gallinari said: “Let’s make this clear once and for all. First of all, to return to Milan you need to be wanted. Has it always been my dream? Yes, it has, and I’ve always said that. Even when I was in the NBA, in recent years, I thought about coming back to Milan. But again, to return you need to be wanted. It’s not like I wake up in the morning, make a call and say, ‘Hey guys, I’m ready to come back, do you want me?’ It doesn’t work like that.

In the past two or three years, I’ve received phone calls—either me, my father, his agency, or my American agent—from Italian and EuroLeague teams. Even recently, and I thank all the teams who reached out, who showed interest or asked, even when I was under contract in the U.S., what my situation was or what my future plans were. From Milan, I never received a phone call. To come back, you need to be wanted. At 37 years old, it’s very difficult now to return to Europe, for both basketball and off-the-court reasons.”
