Danilo Gallinari, in an interview<\/a> with La Gazzetta dello Sport<\/em>, confirmed that he will retire from the Italian national team following EuroBasket 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m missing a medal with the national team, and then I can be happy. It\u2019s also hard to quantify what could have been and wasn\u2019t: I started with the Azzurri at 17-18 years old, when the 2004 Olympic group was still there, and of all the possible summers since then, I missed eight. That\u2019s a lot. Sometimes I wonder what could have happened if I had played those eight summers too \u2014 better not to think about it. Every summer anything can happen, even this one… I don\u2019t want to put pressure on the guys, but honestly I see a team that I think is strong and can do well. I expect a lot from this group. I\u2019m fired up for this, especially since it will be my last time with the national team, which adds some extra emotion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gallinari also commented on the NBA Europe project:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a wonderful idea, though I don\u2019t know how or when it will happen. I had the opportunity to take part in some of the meetings to understand the value of this idea, having conversations with people familiar with both worlds. From what I understand, things are moving forward step by step. I believe it can be something positive for a league as global as the NBA. EuroLeague is a beautiful competition \u2014 I follow it, I really enjoy watching it \u2014 but if there\u2019s something the NBA can contribute, hopefully they can make it work.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
