Olimpia Milano falls heavily in Trento, and Ettore Messina refers to fatigue in the post-game: “My players had nothing left in the tank.” Then, the president of the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP), Gianni Petrucci, speaks to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The schedule is too tough between the championship, European cups, and national team matches. And the teams, with all these trips and commitments, don’t train and it’s difficult to protect their health. A simple first solution is straightforward: FIBA has already shown understanding by reducing the number of windows for national team games; now we need the same gesture from the EuroLeague to decrease the workload on the clubs involved in the competition. I hope that Messina’s message breaks through to intelligent minds and changes something.”

“With Italy, every time we have to face problems before international competitions. The overlapping of windows between national teams and club commitments is not easy to manage.”
