{"id":287801,"date":"2022-08-02T08:57:33","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T06:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/?p=287801"},"modified":"2022-08-02T08:57:33","modified_gmt":"2022-08-02T06:57:33","slug":"jamychal-green-call-steve-kerr-warriors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/en\/jamychal-green-call-steve-kerr-warriors\/","title":{"rendered":"JaMychal Green says he couldn&#8217;t say no to Golden State Warriors after calls with Steve Kerr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/en\/nuggets-reportedly-trading-2027-first-jamychal-green-to-thunder-for-no-30future-second-round-picks\/\">JaMychal Green<\/a> said that a call from Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr convinced him to join the NBA Reigning champions.<\/p>\n<p>Per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/34329785\/jamychal-green-say-no-golden-state-warriors-calls-steve-kerr-draymond-green\">ESPN<\/a>, &#8220;He told me that [the Warriors] were interested, that they wanted me here, wanted me to be a part of the program,&#8221; Green said Monday at his introductory news conference.<\/p>\n<p>The call took Green by surprise. He was already preparing to join another team. But his conversation with Kerr made him change his mind.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After talking to him, I couldn&#8217;t tell him no,&#8221; Green said. &#8220;The organization and what they built over here, I&#8217;d love to be a part of it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He then picked up the phone and called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/6589\/draymond-green\">Draymond Green<\/a>, whom JaMychal has known since the eighth grade through AAU basketball. Draymond has long been somewhat of a salesperson for Golden State, frequently calling prospective players to sell them on joining the team.<\/p>\n<p>His call with JaMychal wasn&#8217;t exactly a pitch, but it helped seal the deal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was just excited,&#8221; JaMychal Green said. &#8220;We both know what we bring to the table, and we just had a good conversation about everything and he made it easy for me to come here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>JaMychal Green sees Draymond&#8217;s role with the Warriors as somewhat of an outline for how he wants to fit in with the team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just come in and play hard,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Be a dog. Do the dirty work &#8212; help Draymond out with the dirty work. Knock down shots and play defense.
