ESPN<\/strong><\/a>, What was Embiid’s message?<\/p>\n“He’s a great coach,” Embiid said. “Obviously, he’s been able to accomplish [a lot] and always been a big fan.<\/p>\n
“But, I told him, respectfully, I told him to stop b—-ing about calls.”<\/p>\n
“If you’re going to triple-team somebody all game, they are bound to get to the free throw line, or if you’re going to push them off and try to hold them and and all that stuff, they’re bound and get to the free throw line,” Embiid said. “So I feel like every foul was legit and probably should have been more, honestly.”<\/p>\n
For his part, Nurse disagreed. After saying following Game 1 that Embiid hit his players with three or four elbows to the face — and should’ve been called for several other fouls — Nurse said there was some slight improvement on Tuesday, but not enough.<\/p>\n
“At least there wasn’t as many elbows thrown to the face tonight that we had to endure,” Nurse said, tongue firmly planted in his cheek after expressing his frustration with what he thought was a clear charge call that was called a block on the floor and then was not overturned when he challenged it.<\/p>\n
As for his conversation with Embiid — one Nurse was asked about during his postgame availability, prior to Embiid’s subsequent response — he said there wasn’t much to it.<\/p>\n
“He was saying to me that, ‘I’m going to keep making all the free throws if you keep fouling,'” Nurse said. “And I said, ‘Well, you might have to.’<\/p>\n
“But a good player, man. I got a lot of respect for him. He’s certainly playing great here. There’s nothing there but us trying to compete against him and him trying to compete against us.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
