AS Monaco becomes the first ever Jeep Elite team to win the Eurocup after downing UNICS in Kazan 86-83 in Game 2. A stunning underdog triumph for a team who conquers its first ever continental trophy, after losing twice the Basketball Champions League final in 2017 and 2018. It was a thrilling matchup in Russia, with Monaco escaping away in the 4th with a 6-point lead with 3′ left to play. UNICS, however, was able to come back behind Jamar Smith, leading 83-81 with 15 seconds to play. A 3-point play by O’Brien with 10″ to play allowed Monaco to regain the lead after Marcus Knight sealing the deal with a pair of free throws.<\/p>\n
Rob Gray led Monaco with 25 points, with Knight adding a stellar 14 points, 12 rebounds double-double. O’Brien had 16 for the visitors, while John Brown III was the best for UNICS with 16 points and 10 rebounds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
