{"id":211008,"date":"2021-04-16T13:24:32","date_gmt":"2021-04-16T11:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/?p=211008"},"modified":"2021-04-16T13:24:32","modified_gmt":"2021-04-16T11:24:32","slug":"2021-22-eurocup-season-to-start-under-revamped-competition-model-with-some-three-year-licenses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/en\/2021-22-eurocup-season-to-start-under-revamped-competition-model-with-some-three-year-licenses\/","title":{"rendered":"2021-22 EuroCup season to start under revamped competition model (with some three-year licenses)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A selection of 13 clubs of this season\u2019s 7DAYS EuroCup met remotely to discuss and agree on a proposed new competition model which had been previously reviewed by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal includes:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Participating teams: 20<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A maximum of 16 teams will be awarded three-year licenses to promote stability and long-term planning.<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of four one-year wild cards and\/or rankings-based domestic league spots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; Competition format: divided into two phases that aim at providing clubs with more guaranteed home games \u2013 maximizing their revenue opportunities and the excitement of the fan experience \u2013 while introducing knock-out phases that will deliver increased thrills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regular Season: two groups of 10 teams each in a round-robin format.
