Nicolas Claxton is getting more and more space in the Brooklyn Nets rotation, thanks to his energy and versatility on both ends of the court.<\/p>\n
After 11 games the former Georgia Tech has averages of\u00a0 9.3 points (64% FG, 59% FT), 3.9 points and 1.6 blocks.<\/p>\n
Claxton is a big-time defender, thanks to his ability to switch onto perimeter players despite being 7-feet tall, and to protect the rim.<\/p>\n
After the win over Washington, Claxton talked about the challenge of defending on smaller, faster players:<\/p>\n
“Deep down I\u2019m smiling because if teams want to continue to do that, they might get a couple of buckets, but I\u2019m gonna get more stops than them, definitely. So deep down I\u2019m just smiling, I\u2019m ready. I know the scouting report. I\u2019m a huge basketball fan, so I\u2019ve been watching all of these guys since I was young, so just me being out there, using my IQ, using my footwork, guarding without fouling, it\u2019s fun, honestly. I wasn\u2019t able to switch one through last year at all, honestly, so me being able to switch, I think that\u2019s huge. That\u2019s huge for us, especially if teams want to go at me directly. That\u2019s just taking the flow away from other players, and like I said, I might get scored on a couple times, but for the most part I\u2019m good.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
