The\u00a012th\u00a0Meeting of the\u00a0FIBA Europe Board\u00a0term of office 2019-2023\u00a0took place\u00a0via videoconference on Friday, March 19, 2021.<\/p>\n

The session was chaired by FIBA Europe\u00a0President Turgay Demirel, while in attendance were also FIBA President\u00a0Hamane\u00a0Niang;\u00a0FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and FIBA Europe Secretary General\/FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak.<\/p>\n

Among the plethora of items in the meeting, the Board members discussed and confirmed that the final decision on the organization and\u00a0format of the 2021 men’s and women’s FIBA European Championships for Small Countries and Youth Competitions will be taken in the May Board meeting, following discussion in the Medical, Youth and Competitions Commissions and feedback from National Federations and the host cities.<\/p>\n

The Board was\u00a0also\u00a0presented with:<\/p>\n

  • Extensive reporting about the\u00a0successful conclusion of the\u00a0recent\u00a0Qualifiers for both FIBA\u00a0Women’s EuroBasket 2021 and FIBA\u00a0EuroBasket 2022\u00a0which decided the roster of teams for the Final Round tournaments.<\/li>\n
  • Numbers about the\u00a0impressive growth of\u00a0digital engagement\u00a0of\u00a0Euroleague Women, following its rebranding and the upgrade of production standards\u00a0and despite the\u00a0significantly shortened season, compared to previous editions.<\/li>\n
  • A review of the\u00a0state of play\u00a0for\u00a0all\u00a0club competitions under the auspices of FIBA Europe, which are played in hubs for the current season.
    \nA report on the\u00a0current\u00a0Basketball Champions League\u00a02020-2021\u00a0season.<\/li>\n
  • Updates on the bidding process for the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 and the FIBA EuroBasket 2025.<\/li>\n
  • The financial statements of FIBA Europe as of\u00a0end of 2020, which it approved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Board also\u00a0confirmed the postponement of the 2021\u00a0General Assembly\u00a0of FIBA Europe\u00a0to\u00a0October\u00a02,\u00a02021.
