The Brisbane Bullets have made another key signing of the free agency period, adding Harry Froling to their roster for the 2020-21 Hungry Jack\u2019s NBL Season.<\/p>\n
Froling has signed a one-year deal, plus option, with Brisbane and the former 36ers big man will add great versatility and depth to an Australian frontcourt who were all born and raised in Queensland.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old Townsville native has played for the 36ers in the past two seasons and was crowned the NBL\u2019s Rookie of the Year in 2019. Froling attracted NBA interest in 2019, working out with the Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings.<\/p>\n
Froling joins the Bullets just two days after his former Adelaide teammate Anthony Drmic as Brisbane make a quick start to the free agency period.<\/p>\n
Brisbane Head Coach Andrej Lemanis said: \u201cHarry is another quality signing for us as we continue to build our roster for the upcoming season. Harry\u2019s ability to stretch the floor will certainly provide versatility in our frontcourt.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve had the opportunity to work with Harry previously at the Centre of Excellence. He has a tremendous basketball IQ, sees the floor well and can instigate offence via the pass \u2013 which are handy skills for a player of his size.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is also a strong family connection here as I served as Assistant Coach with Harry\u2019s father Shane (also a former Bullet) in Townsville for seven years, so I feel that I know Harry on a personal level already, which will make his integration into the club a smooth one.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the most exciting things is that Harry has youth on his side. We know that like all 22-year-olds, Harry has room to grow and I feel we are well placed as a club to help him with this growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have injected youth into the group this year and I\u2019m excited by the opportunity that provides for us as the team starts to take shape. It will be a great group to coach and one that I know the fans will enjoy connecting with.\u201d<\/p>\n
Froling said: \u201cI\u2019m super excited. They were really excited to have me, and they were recruiting me the hardest out of everyone. I\u2019ve always been told go where you\u2019re wanted the most not what sounds the best and Brisbane really wanted me and put forward a fair offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited to get down there and excited for the opportunity. It feels like the right fit for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Harry is the brother of fellow NBL player Sam, while both his sisters, Keely (Canberra Capitals) and Alicia (Bendigo Spirit), play in the WNBL. He is the eldest son of former NBL player Shane Froling and four-time WNBL champion Jenny Froling.<\/p>\n
He began his NBL career with the Townsville Crocodiles in 2016 before attending colleges SMU (2016-2017) and Marquette (2017-2018). Froling played two games for professional Polish team Sp\u00f3jnia Stargard earlier this year before the season was cancelled.<\/p>\n
Froling joins Drmic, Matt Hodgson, Will Magnay, Jason Cadee, Nathan Sobey, Tyrell Harrison and Tanner Krebs on the Bullets roster for the 2020\/21 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
