{"id":141939,"date":"2020-04-01T20:00:23","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T18:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/?p=141939"},"modified":"2020-04-01T20:00:23","modified_gmt":"2020-04-01T18:00:23","slug":"3x3-star-rae-lin-dalie-composes-2020-fiba-3x3-official-song","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/en\/3x3-star-rae-lin-dalie-composes-2020-fiba-3x3-official-song\/","title":{"rendered":"3&#215;3 star Rae Lin D\u2019Alie composes 2020 FIBA 3&#215;3 Official Song"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIES (Switzerland) \u2013 FIBA and FIBA 3&#215;3 World Cup 2018 MVP Rae Lin D\u2019Alie partnered on the making of a track called \u20183&#215;3 Anthem\u2019, which will be used as the official song of 3&#215;3 in 2020.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtubeWrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"widget4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ypxmHhELBag?enablejsapi=1\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The genesis of the song \u2013 simply called \u20183&#215;3 Anthem\u2019 \u2013 was the FIBA 3&#215;3 Europe Cup 2017, one of the first official 3&#215;3 competitions where D\u2019Alie competed for Team Italy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was after a game\u201d, the world\u2019s 5th ranked player explained. \u201cI was just walking down the road. I took out my phone and I just started creating these lyrics to the 1st verse. I think it was just an expression of the joy that I felt experiencing the game, the environment and the people. The words just flew out of me and I think it was just a response and an expression of the experience I lived on the court and in the environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I had an opportunity to talk to the FIBA 3&#215;3 team about that project at the FIBA Basketball Summit in 2018, where I was a speaker. There was an entertainment break and [the late former FIBA Secretary General] Patrick Baumann told me \u201cdo it right now\u201d. So I started doing it with a Chinese drummer, who did not speak a word of English. We just went for it. It was a really cool experience because I had never done anything like that before and the response was very positive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After that, D\u2019Alie was asked to perform the song at numerous times, including the FIBA 3&#215;3 U23 World Cup 2018 and the FIBA 3&#215;3 World Cup, becoming a de-facto anthem for 3&#215;3 basketball.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful song about all the things that makes 3&#215;3 special,\u201d FIBA 3&#215;3 Managing Director Alex Sanchez said. \u201cIt\u2019s fun, urban, universal, for everyone, engaging with the fans, competitive, spectacular, physical, unpredictable, a 10-minute sprint. The official video clip shows how well Rae [Lin D\u2019Alie] and Rae\u2019s career represent these values. We\u2019re proud to count Rae as one of our ambassadors and to have collaborated with her on this exciting project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The song will be played before each FIBA 3&#215;3 Official Competition in 2020 and be available on all FIBA 3&#215;3 Social Media and Music channels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was important for us to help such an iconic 3&#215;3 player achieve one of her lifelong goal to produce a song,\u201d Sanchez added. \u201cIt is a reminder that music is a key component of our game and that 3&#215;3 is more than just a sport discipline, it\u2019s an entire cultural movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FIBA 3&#215;3 Women\u2019s Series 2019 top scorer described the project as \u201cone of the top experiences of her life\u201d and said it gave her platform to send several key messages about 3&#215;3.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy heart behind the song was to try to get interest in the movement and explain the discipline lyrically, which is the 1st verse,\u201d D\u2019Alie explained. The 3rd and last verse is to say \u201cthis is for everybody, all nations, all genders. It doesn\u2019t matter if you wanna play or just watch, just come out and check it out. The 2nd verse is my favorite part because it is kind of a call to identity.
