Per ESPN<\/a><\/strong>, “There\u2019s nothing irresponsible \u2014 if you\u2019ve got that information [that you\u2019ve been exposed] \u2014 about trying to get the tests,\u201d Roberts told ESPN on Wednesday. \u201cThe problem that more of us can\u2019t get the tests \u2014 and I\u2019m not apologetic about saying it \u2014 in my view, that rests at the foot of the federal government. They were responsible for making sure we were protected in that regard, and I think they failed.<\/p>\n“We shouldn\u2019t be fighting about this now \u2026 but once this is done and we get through it, and we will, let\u2019s figure out who screwed up and fix that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roberts said she understood the criticism but reiterated her criticism of how the government has handled the crisis.
\n\u201cI get it,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cPeople should not be having to wait in line. The at-risk population should be the first to be tested. But god damn it, if the government had done what they were supposed to do, we wouldn\u2019t be competing for an opportunity to be tested.\u201d
\nRoberts said she has advised her players to report any symptoms of the virus to team officials if they come up. She is actively discouraging any stigma from being attached to players who might test positive.
\n\u201cI\u2019m distressed if any player is distressed about having his name out there,\u201d she said. \u201cThere is no stigma attached to testing positive for coronavirus. I\u2019m probably positive for coronavirus if I\u2019m tested. Most of us will. I\u2019m now hearing 50% of the population is probably going to be infected. We need to stop being concerned about there being some stigma about being infected \u2014 \u2018Oh my God, he\u2019s got the \u2018rona.\u2019
\n“That’s nonsense to worry about that. We need to worry about how we can contain it. My message to the players is, \u2018Don\u2019t for one second be embarrassed about it. There\u2019s nothing embarrassing about it. This is not something that suggests you\u2019ve done anything wrong.
