Per ESPN<\/a>, “It\u2019s got to be stopped in some kind of way,\u201d Oakley told The Associated Press in a phone interview Tuesday night. \u201cThe NBA has got to take a look at this. You can\u2019t keep closing your eyes to this. This is like, turn your head if you see someone beat somebody up and you just keep walking.\u201d<\/p>\n“It just keeps happening in New York,\u201d Oakley said. \u201cPeople are not going to come here because it\u2019s the same thing over and over and over. They got a new president, and all everyone is talking about what happened between Spike Lee and the Garden.\u201d<\/p>\n
Oakley also addressed Lee\u2019s altercation with ESPN\u2019s Golic and Wingo on Wednesday, saying Knicks owner James Dolan is the consistent problem.
\n\u201cWhat is this man\u2019s problem about control? He\u2019s so much a control freak. And he\u2019s hurting the whole NBA,\u201d Oakley said. \u201cIf I\u2019m an owner in the NBA, this guy headlines every other month, every other week, with something that don\u2019t have nothing to do with winning. It\u2019s got to do with individuals, people\u2019s life. We shouldn\u2019t be going through this.\u201d
\nThe Knicks are 19-42 and headed toward their seventh straight season out of the playoffs.
